An access log is a text file that contains a thorough list of all the files accessed by your website visitors. All the files which were requested in one way or another shall be included, so when you have a PHP script program and a site visitor opens only the home page, for instance, you might find numerous files inside the log. It is because there are elements on the home page which are embedded - parts of other webpages, images, etc. These files shall be listed inside the access log, so that you can get a full picture of the way your website functions. The info is in plain text format, so the logs are occasionally referred to as "raw data" as well. An access log contains the name of each requested file, the path to it, the date it was accessed, along with the user’s IP address, world-wide web browser and OS. More information, including the referrer site, is oftentimes provided as well. A log file may be processed by various desktop applications for statistical purposes as an addition to the web stats generated by your server.

Access Log Manager in Cloud Hosting

Our custom-built Hepsia CP includes a section focused on various logs and the access logs are among them. Once you sign in to your cloud hosting account and take a look at this section, you'll find a list of all the domains and subdomains you have. All it takes to enable the generation of access logs is to press a button which will be available next to each domain/subdomain. If the option is active, you will see a download link and also the file size so far, so you'll be able to save the file to your personal computer and examine it or process it with some application. Enabling or disabling the logs becomes effective right away, so if you no longer need one, you can stop it with only a click from the exact same section of the Control Panel. You'll still be able to access the already generated content by simply clicking the Download link.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Hosting

If you host your sites inside a semi-dedicated server account with us, you will have the option to trigger or deactivate the generation of access logs with only several clicks from your Hepsia hosting CP. You'll find this feature inside the Access/Error Logs section, which you can access once you sign in. All it takes for our system to start producing logs is a single click on the On button which you can see there. The feature can be triggered individually for any Internet site regardless of whether it uses a domain or a subdomain and you shall find the complete list of all the hosts inside that section. Any access log can be downloaded as a text file with just a click and you may then see it manually or use some software on your laptop or computer. The log generation can be stopped by simply switching the On option to Off in the Logs section of your Control Panel.
