FTP is an acronym for File Transfer Protocol – en extremely popular method of transferring website files between a home PC and a server. With an FTP client program such as FileZilla or CuteFTP, you can make a connection to the server and check its content in one pane, whereas the files on your PC will be displayed in another pane within the program window. All you will need to do to send files or entire folders in either direction is to mark them and then to drag them from one pane to the other. FTP is used by many users because you can set up different FTP accounts and each one can be restricted to access just one single directory on the server, so a web designer, for example, can carry out their job without accessing any other directory in your website hosting account. In addition, the presence of different FTP accounts will also enable you to build multiple Internet sites using web design apps such as FrontPage or Dreamweaver and to upload them to their corresponding directories on the server.

FTP Accounts in Cloud Hosting

You will be able to create as many FTP accounts as you want with any of the Linux cloud hosting that we are offering, as we’ve chosen not to restrict this service. Thus, you can have numerous Internet sites simultaneously or grant other individuals access to different folders. Once a given task has been done and you don’t want that individual to be able to access your web files anymore, you can edit the password for the specific FTP account or you can just delete the account with several mouse clicks and stop worrying about somebody connecting to it once again. The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which is offered with all shared packages, will allow you to see the full list of the active FTP accounts shown in alphabetical order. It takes just one click to administer different options for any of them – to change the password or the access path, to download an auto-configuration file, etc.

FTP Accounts in Semi-dedicated Hosting

When you host your Internet sites under a semi-dedicated server account, you’ll be able to create a separate FTP account for any of them, as we haven’t put a restriction on this functionality with any of our packages. You can do this via the FTP section of our intuitive Hepsia Control Panel where you can also view the full list of all the accounts that you have set up, together with the folder that each one of them can access. If needed, you will be able to change the password for a specific account or to update its access path with a couple of clicks of the mouse. You can also delete an account with no effort in case you don’t require it anymore – for example, if you’ve hired a web developer who is finished with the site and you do not want them to access your web files any longer. For convenience’s sake, we’ve made a number of instructional video clips, that will help you manage your FTP accounts without efforts in case you’ve never used a web hosting service previously.

FTP Accounts in VPS

The virtual private server packages that we’re offering will allow you to set up an unlimited number of FTP accounts to administer the content of your sites. This is valid regardless of which Virtual Private Server plan you buy and which hosting Control Panel you pick upon signup – cPanel, DirectAdmin or Hepsia. In any case, you’ll be provided with FTP access to the machine without installing any software, since an FTP server is part of the basic software stack which is included in the Virtual Private Server packages by default. You can create one FTP account for each domain or sub-domain that you have registered or even several accounts for a single directory – in case you want a number of individuals to access the web content inside it with their own personal sign-in details. With each of the Control Panels, creating, deleting or modifying an FTP account takes no more than a couple of mouse clicks via an intuitive interface.
